When Irish Cows Are
SmilingTM - LIVE!
Throughout history, the Great Chicago Fire of
October 1871 has been attributed to a lantern kicked over by
an Irish immigrant's cow. Today, the story of Mrs.
O'Leary and her hapless bovine is merely the quintessential
urban legend. In its day, however, the story gave
Chicago's upper classes a chance to blame the fire's
destruction on a member of the immigrant poor.* Forward
the clock 135+ years, for now, we debunk this myth and set the
record straight...When Irish Cows Are
Smiling!TM
Step back in time with us for a "MOO"-morial
service like no "UDDER" to commemorate Catherine O'Leary's
beloved cow, Daniella Joy. You'll be a part of the
family as this audience-participation comedy takes you back to
March 1872, five months after the Great Chicago Fire.
You'll pay your respects to Danni Joy, and have a chance to
visit with Mrs. O'Leary as she's comforted by Justin Thyme,
the funeral director at the Diggum, Deepe & Dye Funeral
Parlour. This "last round-up in the sky" SPARKS the audience to sing along to some
favorite Irish tunes with a twist (Moo Ra Loo Ra Loo Ral,
Oh Danni Joy, When Irish Cows Are Smiling and others)
with accompaniment from the funeral parlour's mute organist
(and McLiberace wannabe), Orson Buggy. Audience members
will also have a chance to deliver BLAZING eulogies as if this famous cow
was a good friend, and march out to a COMBUSTIBLE jubilant dirge of When
The Cows Go Marching In! Plus, you'll play your
part in discovering who really started the
fire!
Now headin' into its 7th year of sold out
performances, glory be, it's the perfect Irish celebration for
you and all of your friends...whether on St. Patty's Day or
anytime of the year! Come see When Irish Cows Are
SmilingTM...LIVE!
The 90-minute version is comin'
once again to The
Milk Pail, (1/2 Mile North of I-90 on Route 25) in East
